The world consists of many interconnected oases, forming a large open world. Challenge another clan’s monopoly, and you may become their next target. It’s always wise to consider potential competitors first though. Other nomads may opt to produce or hunt down rare and highly localized resources. Smart and quick traders can make huge profits, but running trade routes always comes with a risk. The global player-driven economy is based on real supply and demand. Trade networks stretch between the known oases. Keep your Nomad alive for as long as you can, as you become stronger the longer you escape death. Learn to exploit what remains of the world. There will never be rest for the men who built the walkers they can only move forward. Some nomads have carved out lucrative positions for themselves and even gained status with Flotilla however most nomads are locked in a daily struggle for survival, forced to battle both nature and those around them. In order to keep moving, the remnants of humanity have built nomadic machines, and a walking city called Flotilla.Įvery day, Flotilla transports more nomads into the passing oases, where warring clans fight tooth and nail for control of territory and valuable resources. This band moves at the pace of the planet’s rotation around the Sun, and all life on Earth must migrate with it to survive. Only a narrow band of space between the hot and cold halves of the planet has conditions that can support life. The LoreĪfter a cataclysmic event halted the Earth’s rotation, the planet was split into two extreme and deadly environments. In order to stay ahead of the obliterating Sun, nomads must explore new territories that slowly emerge on the eastern horizon, from the side of the Earth that has long been frozen in impenetrable ice.

The Sun burns the land in the west, turning it to dust. A multitude of structures, attachments and upgrades allow players to personalize Walkers to their needs. Walkers can be adapted for travel, transportation, harvesting, combat, or used as mobile bases. Traverse the world on wooden wind-powered, walking machines inspired by Theo Jansen's amazing strandbeests. A spider walker is ideal for doing this solo, however keep in mind the “Spider Walker with Ballista” is separate from the “Nomad Spider Walker.” The Ballista version cannot pack crafting stations such as campfires inside so be aware of this before choosing which one to craft.Check back soon for Dave's gamescom report on the game, which has an ambitious design and premise: the Earth's rotation has stopped and human survivors have become nomads in order to stay in the ever-moving small livable portion of the planet. The fastest way I progressed in the tech tree was by constantly farming Rupu camps and breaking the large crates found around wreckage by dragging them with harpoons. This will enable you to start re-building immediately without going through the painful process of spawning in the desert with absolutely nothing. One more should be a “worse case scenario” spider or firefly walker that holds some basic resources and tools, as well as armor and water. 2 of these should be a dinghy or larger ship that can move your base.

You can favorite up to five walkers and they will not be destroyed if left behind in the lobby for too long. It may take some time to farm, but having an extra dinghy walker or something larger that can pack up your base is very important! If you get ambushed on your way off the oasis or you’re backed into a corner, you need a 2nd walker in order to salvage your base or rebuild if necessary. Make sure you always have more than one walker that can carry a base. Now your base and items are off map and safe.

Use a cheap Firefly or Spider Walker (recommend spider once you unlock it) to get back to your base, and let the farming commence.Find an isolated or semi-hidden area on this new oasis and unpack your base, then take your dinghy to the edge of the desert, and upload it to the lobby.Find a medium oasis with a small population, and transfer your walker over to it.Pack up your base into your Dinghy walker.Place all your crafting stations in this base, (campfire, etc.) along with several storage containers.Build a small base (about 2×2 foundations) with an “airlock” room and two doors to prevent people from blindsiding you when you exit your base.
